FROM KIRSTY WESTFIELD, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
North Lincolnshire Council is officially opening Brigg Recreation Ground, Wrawby Road, on Friday 17 February after investing £2.6m to bring the facility up-to-date.
It now provides modern, high quality facilities for the community and local sports clubs, they include:
- A new pavilion
- Full size floodlit synthetic pitch for hockey – this can also be used as two hockey pitches for training or three pitches for five-a-side football training
- Four adult tennis courts
- Two junior tennis courts
- Four grass football pitches
- Four large heated changing rooms
- Function room
Find out for yourself what the new facility has to offer by going along to taster sessions being held on Tuesday 21 and Thursday 23 February.
On both days you will be able to have a go at tennis and football between 1pm and 3pm and hockey between 3pm and 4pm. Just turn up and play; it is £1 per person. Adults and children can take part in the activities.
All sessions are supervised. Refreshments are available to buy on the day.
If you don’t fancy the sporting activities, take a tour of the new facility on either day. There will also be indoor games for children to get involved in.

“It is exciting that we will see local cricket, hockey and tennis clubs return to their home town of Brigg.
“I would encourage residents to go along to the taster sessions during February half-term and take a look around the brand new facility. You will be able to get involved in hockey, football and tennis.”
how does one go about booking the tennis courts ?.
ReplyDeleteprobably by ringing ancholme leisure centre and getting the 4 digit code for the locks,,
all well and good so after your session do you leave gate unlocked for others to use free. book one court but use two ?,it's open to abuse as the old courts were.
easy to get an magnetic lock fitted get card from ancholme leisure centre with a deposit which you get back on return.
Good question, Pete.
ReplyDeleteThe article talks about 'supervised events', but how does me and me girlfriend book a court for a casual knock-about?
As old wrinklies we are very forgetful and could quite easily leave the access unlocked.....inviting both free use and vandalism....
