BRIGG COMMUNITY AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

At the Brigg Town Council Meeting on Monday 23rd  January 2017, it was resolved that the Joseph J. Magrath O.B.E. Award for Public Voluntary Service to the Community of Brigg in 2016, should be awarded to four separate nominees. 
This award is usually made to an individual, but given the high standard of nominees, it was felt that on this occasion, the award be shared equally. 
In determining their nomination, members were delighted to have the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of three individuals namely Chris Darlington, Karen Deeley, Peter Jacklin and also the members 
of Brigg Pancreatic Action Group for the positive difference which they all make to many residents of Brigg and the surrounding area. 
Chris Darlington – for his continued support for the Brigg Community over many years, including his activities in support of LIVES, Brigg Town Business Partnership, Brigg Live Arts, Rotary Club and various music festivals. 
Karen Deeley - for her efforts in raising the profile of the Women’s Institute and in particular for the recent Christmas community event which she took the lead on, arranging the food, transport, entertainment and other volunteers. 
Peter Jacklin - for being a volunteer driver and Transport Manager with Brigg & District Gateway Club for almost forty years, together with taking on the additional role as Treasurer and helping out with any other job that arises within the club! 
Andrew Markham, Zoe Hall & Lesley Whitehand of Brigg Pancreatic Cancer Group – for their regular activities in promoting awareness of and raising funds for this virulent form of cancer.
Accordingly, they are invited to attend the Town Mayor’s Civic Charity Dinner to be held on Saturday 18th  March, 2017, at the Angel Suite in Brigg, when the Town Mayor will present the winners with the Rose Bowl and a Certificate.
