BRIGG RUE MISSED CHANCES IN LAUNCH GAME AT THE REC

Pictured here, the Brigg Hockey Club Men's 2nd X1 which lost 2-1 to York in the first game played on the new "Blue Astro" all-weather pitch at the town's refurbished Recreation Ground, off Wrawby Road, on Saturday. 
Brigg had many chances infront of goal that went begging in this Yorkshire League encounter.
We are trying to work out how long ago Brigg men stopped playing on grass at the Rec, prior to the complete switch-over to artificial surfaces, using hired facilities for home matches in Scunthorpe and Lincoln.
We think it must have been 2002 or 2003, and we probably played in the final match, on the main pitch nearest Wrawby Road, without realising the significance.
