ROADSIDE FEATURES IN BRIGG HAVE TAKEN SOME HAMMER

At a recent Brigg Town Council meeting in the Angel Suite, reference was made to the state of a public seat on Bigby High Road - not far from the level crossing.
Today, Brigg Blog went to take a look - and a couple of pictures - and can confirm that the seat could do with refurbishment, or even replacement if funds permit.
While in this part of town we noted that the postbox  is also looking a little careworn.
It can't help being located near to the very busy A1084. On wet days like today, passing vehicles are liable to generate a dirty spray.
A good wash-down might suffice for the postbox, but we suggest it will take more than that to bring the seat back to its original condition.

  1. Until about 1875 post-boxes were painted a dull green, an inobstrusive colour to blend into the street scene...but folks would claim that the couldn't find a post-box , cos everything else was green...then they started to paint them bright red to stand out.
Could we learn from this little anecdote?
Litter bind in Brigg are black like the rest of the street furniture....perhaps some people can't find a litter bin cos they ain't conspicuous.....

  2. Lichen demonstrates how primitive life hangs onto survival in an extreme range of conditions.
However, they are a recognised scientific measure of air quality....looks like Brigg has decent air..
Similarly, at skool I enjoyed pond-dipping and in the biology class rating the water quality of different samples according to the wigglies discovered under the microscope.
