Market Rasen Racecourse’s owner, The Jockey Club, is to allow all 18-to-24-year-olds to enjoy racing for half-price – and the first day of RacePass 18to24 is at the Lincolnshire track on Thursday, 1st December.
Young adults are encouraged to register immediately at RacePass18to24.co.uk to receive their free RacePass membership card, which is eligible for use at The Jockey Club’s racing fixtures at 15 racecourses in England.
All meetings from next month at Market Rasen are in the scheme, with the exception of racing & music events.
With under 18s, accompanied by an adult, offered free admission already and discounts for students and senior citizens, it means a day at the races is becoming even more affordable. With Market Rasen’s popular Boxing Day meeting fast approaching, young adults should not delay in registering.
The dedicated website RacePass18to24.co.uk lists all participating fixtures. Getting a RacePass is free and Jockey Club Racecourses is guaranteeing a minimum of 250 tickets will be available for half-price at each of the fixtures involved.
Meetings at Market Rasen’s sister racecourses such as Nottingham, Newmarket, Aintree and Cheltenham are also included.
Nadia Gollings, General Manager, Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “The Jockey Club only exists to further British horse racing and, while this move costs money in the short-term, it is a long-term investment in our sport’s future. We need to ensure that cost is not a barrier for young people wanting to go racing. It means that our relationship can be based on whether they have a fantastic experience at the races and we can focus on trying to ensure our incredible sporting heroes, stories and rivalries captivate that next generation.”
The Jockey Club is the largest commercial group in racing, governed by Royal Charter to act for the long-term good of the sport, which includes reinvesting all its profits. More than six million people enjoyed a day at the races in 2015, a third of them at racecourses owned by The Jockey Club, making racing the second most popular spectator sport in Britain.
The next fixture at Market Rasen is on Thursday, 1st December when all the races are sponsored by 32Red. More information is available at www.marketrasenraces.co.uk where tickets can be bought in advance at a discount from £7.20. The first race is at 12.20pm.
