BRIGG FOOTBALLERS BEATEN IN THE CUP BUT TURN IN GOOD DISPLAY

Brigg Blog visited Sir John Nelthorpe School yesterday afternoon (Saturday, October 1) to take some pictures of Briggensians FC during their first home fixture of the 2016/17 campaign.
The Brigg team, which plays in division three of the T.S.W. Printers Scunthorpe & District Football League, lost 3-1 at home to Epworth Town - one of the top sides in division one - in the first round of the T.S.W. Printers Challenge Cup.
So this was a creditable peformance by the local team, lined up above, whose goal came from Sol Hari.

No officially appointed referee turned up so Briggensians' sub and veteran player, Craig Benson (pictured above) was pressed into action with the whistle.

This coming Saturday, Briggensians will host Scotter United Reserves at SJN, kick-off for the league encounter being 3pm.
Briggensians are third in the table behind Barnetby United Reserves and Shape Changers, having won two and drawn one of their three league fixtures so far, scoring eight goals and conceding four.
