ATTENTION BRIGG DRIVERS SEEKING PERSONALISED NUMBERPLATES

In the showroom window at The Monument car sales business in Brigg, beside the A18,  there are a couple of personalised number plates on display.
One is 986 JOE (pictured)  which made us think of a certain well-known businessman who owns properties just a short walk from the showroom and who we see quite often in Brigg hostelries on a Saturday night.
Other Joes, please note.
Apply within at the former W A Sass garage premises for details, if personalised plates are of interest to you. A Christmas gift for someone, perhaps?
Close to this car showroom, the litter bin we previously reported as having been removed is STILL awaiting replacement by North Lincolnshire Council.
And this appears to be spreading. For one of the black litter bins in Wrawby Street has also been removed, not far from Brian's DIY - almost opposite the junction with Cross Street.
We noticed this early one morning this week while walking to catch a bus from Cary Lane.

  1. What do you think of the show so far?
Talking about littery things, Nige...I've mentioned it before, but in Ludlow, Shropshire...the market town where my son, daughter-in-law and my grand-ankle-gripper lives they have litter bins - black, secretative and seemingly embarrassed to be part of the street furniture...very much like Brigg's bins.
To the side of the town's market square, there is a simple, large, open-topped, cage box with a bright orange bag inside.
While the camouflaged black litter bins get the odd attention, the bright orange cage thing attracts folks like bees around a sugar refinery.
Perhaps, we could learn from Ludlow's example...it's not how things blend in, it more of how some things are better used when they stand out.

  2. Ps....not that I'm in the habit, but try and fit a pizza box through the opening of a typical black litter bin...it either falls out, sticks out like a tongue and forms an effective block for other street detrius....

  4. The plate is like that child's reflective question...
Why is the number 6 frightened?
    It is said, 7 ate 9 !!
