JOSIE STEPS DOWN AS BRIGG BASH CHAIRMAN

The Brigg Amateur Social Historians group held its annual meeting on Tuesday evening when two well-known and long-standing members of the committee stepped down - Josie Webb and Chris Witty.
Josie told Brigg Blog: "Having been Chairman for 13 years, I feel ready to step down and move on.  I will still be doing The Ghost Walks with Brian and Pat and will still be going to the meetings."
The committee now comprises: Chairman /Secretary Pat Parkinson, Vice-Chairman Brian Denison, Treasurer Denise Torpey; other committee members, Jean Neall, Caroline Sharpe and Stewart Melton.
Josie has put in a tremendous amount of hard work since BASH'S  formation. We used to meet Josie and Chris, and a few others, on a Friday night, late on, in the White Horse 13+ years ago. Our small group often talked about old Brigg and the landlord at the time was very happy to host the initial meeting in his pub.
As BASH grew, we used the function room at the Ancholme Inn, which was larger than the original White Horse, prior to J D Wetherspoon arriving on the scene and transforming the hostelry.
BASH later switched to Brigg Servicemen's Club - another large venue - where monthly meetings are still held.
We recall working with Josie, Pat and others on the script and route for the initial Brigg ghost walks, which are still going strong today.
We are sure the current committee will be working hard  in the coming months for what has long become one of Brigg's best-known groups.
