BRIGG REC WILL BE A COMMUNITY VENUE

Futher to Brigg Blog's recent update about the new facilities taking shape at our Recreation Ground, we can now add that there will be a community room provided in the building pictured above, together with the kitchen and changing rooms.
The community aspect of the Rec refurbishment by North Lincolnshire Council is mentioned in the latest issue of the In Touch newsletter for the Brigg & Wolds Ward - copies of which are currently being distributed to homes in the town and nearby villages.
The main article is headlined Brigg Recreation Ground Update and mentions "reconstructing" the cricket pitch, creating four new tennis courts and two mini-courts, together with a floodlit artificial pitch suitable for hockey, football training and five-a-side games.
Coun Carl Sherwood says: "The project is on schedule to be completed by the autumn, meaning we will shortly have a first class community sports venue."
The latest issue of In Touch also includes:

  • An update from Coun Rob Waltham on the Ancholme Valley Way, which has been receiving  feedback that's "really positive." The route near the river will eventually link Brigg and South Ferriby.
  • An update on Superfast Broadband from Brigg & Goole MP Andrew Percy, who reveals that the last cabinet in Brigg is being upgraded by BT and that work to expand the roll-out into Wrawby is "on-going."
  • An article from Coun Nigel Sherwood highlighting the benefits to local people offered by the new Call Connect Bus Service. He  reminds those interested to register by calling 0345 263 8139 or by visiting www.northlincs.gov.uk/callconnect
On the front page of the August issue of In Touch, the Conservatives say the newsletter is "produced, printed and delivered at no cost to the taxpayer."
