The Shoefayre shop in Brigg town centre during 2008 - housed in a Wrawby Street building of distinctive architecture. Dutch-style, we think they call it. Today it houses as a bakery business.
Yep..one gets a significant Dutch flavour in Lincolnshire's coastal towns. Although, Brigg is not strictly coastal, it could be regarded as a small inland port when much of the town's goods were imported/exported from the wharfage. No doubt Continental sailors came to Brigg...and their presence in the town, as well as other similar towns, had an influence in a number of areas...including building style..
