North Lincolnshire Council is to replace missing wooden slats on two of the seats (pictured here) at the eastern end of Wrawby Street, near the junction with Queen Street, close to the White Horse pub bus stop on the A18.
Now under consideration is a request for a new seat to be added halfway down St Helen's Road (picture below).
Some seats are paid for from the public purse, while others are donated - sometimes in memory of Brigg people.
As the seats are open to the elements and subject to wear and tear and the unwanted attention of vandals, maintenance is required from time to time.
Public seats like these are used all year round, but really come into its own during the warmer months of the year.
We also have some under-cover seating at the Tin Tabs/Tin Tab shelter on East Park, near the Monument.
As a Devil's advocate, is it about time that Tin Tabs was replaced?
ReplyDeleteIt may hold memories for some, but to an outsider, it could look like a shed plonked down in an attractive area of Brigg.

Sometimes I think the council chooses street furniture without thinking....traditional wooden and metal framed benches require regular maintenance, but there are low maintainence models available. Similarly, a whole batch of litter bins have been installed about the town...but they do not have the facility of snubbing out disposing of cig butts....subsequently, many smokers attempt snub their butts on top of the bin, which demonstrates that they are trying to dispose of their fag ends but from where the butts fall off and litter the ground surrounding the bins....then folks complain about the mess...a mess that could have largely been avoided with an appropriate type of litter bin.
ReplyDeleteOn a separate, but an associated observation, how long will it be to repair/replace/add fingers to finger posts about Brigg....?
