BRIGG PEOPLE ASKED: DO YOU DIG ARCHAEOLOGY DAY 2016?

FROM LINCOLNSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

Discover ancient treasures and local finds with The Collection and Heritage Lincolnshire on Archaeology Day (Tuesday, July 26).
The Collection is hosting the popular event for the fourth year, as part of the national Council of British Archaeology's Festival of Archaeology.
Dr Erik Grigg, collections access officer, said: "This year, we're asking 'to dig or not to dig?' on archaeology day and we'll be exploring how we investigate our finds respectfully without disturbing environments.
"We've got something for everyone, with family friendly Prehistoric, Roman and Viking talks; a mini-dig and story-time for little ones; and I'll be talking through an Anglo-Saxon autopsy too."
Visitors will be able to meet local history groups and organisations that preserve, protect and promote the county's archaeology.
Lectures and activities are free, with some arts and crafts asking for a £1 donation.
