BRIGG CRICKETERS PUSHING FOR PROMOTION AT HALFWAY POINT IN SEASON

Brigg Town Cricket Club's away game yesterday in division four of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League (sponsored by Readers) was called off without any play being possible, due to wet weather.
Brigg, who were due to play Cleethorpes 4ths at the Immingham Blossom Way ground, collected five points for this 'no result' and remain in third place.
Above them are Gainsborough team Marshalls and Lincoln side Lindum 3rds.
The top two teams normally gain promotion, but sometimes that is extended to three.
Brigg's nine fixtures so far have brought them five wins and there has been only one league defeat. However, three games have been rain-ruined.
Having reached the mid-point of the season, the fixtures now reverse so Town will host Cleethorpes 4ths this coming Saturday (July 16) at the Brocklesby Park ground (1.30pm start).
That's weather permitting, of course!
