There's now a housing estate where the Ancholme Inn used to stand on Grammar School Road, Brigg.
The picture above, from November 2011, was taken during the last event we attended at the Ancholme - a rock and roll night, which we think Pete Boston organised. We were buying one of our last pints here - perhaps THE last.
The Ancholme opened in 1960, chiefly to serve the growing Springbank housing estate, where they were still building new properties. The estate of prefabs, on Woodbine Grove, was also just a short walk from the new hostelry.
The Ancholme Inn's function room was used by many Brigg organisations and by many people holding family celebrations.
However, over many years and in keeping with many UK licensed premises, the Ancholme suffered declining trade.
Eventually it closed for good, demolition followed and homes were built on the site of the pub and its extensive car park.
