ENJOY FOLK MUSIC LIVE IN BRIGG AREA THIS WEEK

Toe-tapping folk music from all over the globe will be entertaining audiences in the Brigg area this week, as part of LiveLincs’ sizzling spring programme.
First up are The Hut People, a lively bunch of musicians performing in Winterton, Burton-upon-Stather and Scawby.
The Hut People promises to take audiences on a melodic journey across the globe, with a lilting and eclectic collection of world folk music.
The band, which specialises in a unique blend of world folk, are fast gaining a reputation as one of the most entertaining acts in the country.
In what has been described as ‘an engaging and often hilarious show’, they perform a truly unique mix of folk music embellished with a foot stomping accordion and some exotic percussion.
Accordionist Sam Pirt and percussionist Gary Hammond both have extensive backgrounds in music – having been part of and performed alongside legendary acts such as The Beautiful South, Nina Simone, The Dubliners and Sharon Shannon and their playing is still very much in high demand. Tickets are on sale now.
They are performing on:

  • Wednesday 2 March, 7.30pm at Winterton All Saints’ Church. Call 01724 734285 to book.
  • Thursday 3 March, 7.15pm at Burton-upon-Stather, St Andrew’s Church. Call 01724 721274 to book.
  • Friday 4 March, 7.30pm at Scawby Village Hall. Call 01652 655595 to book.

“This is a brilliant unique sound – a duo of piano accordion and percussion definitely unbounded by British traditions as they stride into the world of music,” said The Scotsman.
