We refer, of course, to the switching on of our communal Christmas lights, accompanied by Brigg District Lions' Christmas Fayre, with its wide range of stalls and other attractions.
In line with established tradition, characters from the Plowright Theatre, Scunthorpe, pantomime will be in attendance to entertain the assembled crowd, and know doubt throw handfuls of sweets to the younger members of the audience.
Many Brigg shops will be staying open until about 9pm to you can do your Christmas shopping.
Eateries throughout the town centre will also be doing a roaring trade. The colder the night, the more they will sell, long experience tell us.
We suggest you get into the town centre ahead of 5pm to ensure a good vantage point.
Brigg Town Mayor Coun James Truepenny will be joined by Coun Helen Rowson, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire, and other VIPs on the stage in the Market Place for the countdown to the lights being switched on.
The town centre illuminations are provided by Brigg Town Council, which has invested in new LED bulbs. They use a lot less electricity than the traditional variety.
Thanks to Ken Harrison who took the above picture at last year's event.
