BRIGG LANDMARK'S LAST DAY?

The cast iron Victorian footbridge at Brigg railway station is expected to be used for the final time today (Saturday).
A new footbridge, some yards away, is to be installed, spanning the two platforms, for Network Rail.
Demolition of the old structure, which has served the town well since at least the 1890s, will be undertaken at some point in the not too distant future.
Brigg only receives passenger trains on Saturdays. The final one, with the old footbridge still in place, will arrive early this evening.
Our picture  from the past shows a freight train passing under the footbridge.
