PUPPETRY COMING TO BRIGG

FROM KIRSTY WESTFIELD, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

A breathtaking display of puppetry telling the story of The Ugly Duckling will be touring small venues in North Lincolnshire during October, including a visit to Brigg.
The Ugly Duckling, by Finger and Thumb Theatre will be showing at Crowle, Kirton-in-Lindsey and Brigg as part of the rural touring scheme Live Lincs.
The production, based on the Hans Christian Andersen classic, will showcase the work of international shadowgrapher Drew Colby – the only professional hand- shadow puppeteer in Britain.
For this production, he has teamed up with Newcastle-based cellist Penny Callow to create a spellbinding performance.
Inspired by the well-known Hans Christian Andersen tale, this show uses new hand shadow techniques, beautiful light scapes, whimsical humour and glorious live music, including some popular pieces of swan music by Tchaikovsky and Saint-SaĆ«ns to tell the story.
Even everyday objects including plastic spoons and kitchen colanders will transform in front of your eyes to create glistening fish, turtles and dramatic weather changes!
This is a magical hour-long performance for the whole family, with skilful puppetry, fun characters and lots of laughs is part of the Live Lincs Autumn season.
