BRIGG UGLY DUCKLINGS CAUGHT ON CAMERA
We took this long shot from the store's car park, looking across the river to the far bank. Watch the birdie?
I know there are various collective names for a group of swans, Nige...is Whiteness, Wedge, Bevy....and one can even use Gaggle.....but I'm not aware of specific collective name of young swans.
ReplyDeleteHowever, by accidental coincidence, Old Scoop, you've indicated that they are on a bank......and one of the alternative collective name for a group of swans is a Bank of swans...
Anyway, I've always been confused by the tale of the Ugly Duckling......as time goes on, not only he changed his looks; he has also changed his species from a duck to a swan. (albeit that a swan is a member of the extended duck family)...perhaps the Ugly Cygnet doesn't have the same ring to it....
....just a thought.....perhaps some group like the local River Users Group.....Cllr Rob Waltham and mob....could instal some nesting boxes for duckies for use during the winter months.
ReplyDeleteI know some rest and take shelter in some of the gardens of the houses adjacent to the White Hart..and on the whole they can over-winter quite well, but severe cold spells can wipe them out.....and, therefore, some extra shelter in some quiet areas of the river could considerably improve their survival chances when temps drop below zero...
Beautiful images naturally. Instead of creating Dollify apk portraits create interesting and very popular caricatures in Brazil.
