BRIGG COUNCILLORS NIP OUT TO THE BAR

Some members of Brigg Town Council's Property & Services Committee adjourned to the bar during the latest meeting, held in the Angel Suite Lounge. But it was all in the line of duty. And, in any case, the bar was closed!
The committee was discussing the planned installation of a splashback to protect the wall behind the sink in the serving area of the bar, which is only open during functions and some special events.
It was felt a quick "site visit" was in order - to use a local government phrase - so councillors could gain a better grasp of what was intended.
Having seen what they needed to see, the elected representatives returned to their seats, resumed the meeting and supported the idea of installing the splashback. They also agreed door replacement, due to wear and tear, in the entrance area of the Angel Suite.
Three quotes are to be obtained  for each job, prior to contracts being awarded.
The Angel Suite's Lounge and main function room are available for hire through the Town Council, which manages and operates this community facility.
The Suite caters for everything from small group meetings to wedding receptions and sit-down dinners.
If a bar is required, a local licensee can be called in to run it for the duration of the function.
To find out more about the Angel Suite, contact manager Karen Deeley  by e-mail angelsuite@briggmarkettown.co.uk or call in at the council venue.
Returning to the question of the "site visit" to the bar, it should be pointed out that a certain member of the press accompanied them. Which may come as no surprise!

  1. ....as an aside...I remember during my primary school days of 'retrieving' empty pop bottles from the back yard of the local off-licence - nipping round the front to collect the 2d return.....a good example of recycling.
We always had a bag of Flying Saucers - 4 a penny in those days.....
My older brother had a profitable business of charging nurses from nearby nurses home 3d for the use of a chair.......the chair enabled them to climb over the perimeter wall after the gates were locked.
On one occasion, the back entry was full of locked-out nurses - my brother was ill in bed and my dad had to go out with some step-ladders.....
