ENCOURAGING SPORT AMONG BRIGG YOUNGSTERS

Edward and Lucy Arnott, Brigg Town Mayor & Mayoress, 2014/15.

It's become commonplace in Brigg at the end of the Mayoral year for cheques to be presented to those charities chosen by the town's first citizen to benefit from an appeal fund which operated during his/her term of office.
These May presentations, in the Angel Suite, have been photographed for some years by Brigg Blog. Why haven't you seen any pictures this spring?
Brigg Town Mayor for 2014/5, Coun Edward Arnott, came up with a different way of doing things. And one of considerable merit,  we might suggest.
During the Mayoral year he raised £716.42 to create a pot which local groups can now access "to increase youth involvement in sport."
Local organisations are being encouraged to apply for a share.
The criteria is anything that will increase the participation or enjoyment of sport by young people.
At Brigg Town Council's recent AGM, two councillors were appointed to serve on a panel with Edward and Lucy Arnott (Mayoress 2014/15) and the Town Clerk, to consider applications for funding from the proceeds of the Mayor's Appeal Fund.
The two councillors appointed to the panel were Coun Sheila Boughey and Coun James Truepenny, Town Mayor 2015/16.
