- Dog mess on Redcombe Lane was disgusting, getting on children's shoes and the wheels of wheelchairs and pushchairs. She called on pet owners to show more respect.

- Droning noise from refrigeration units parked overnight in Brigg was annoying residents. She felt drivers should use proper truck stops.
Coun Rob Waltham also urged pet owners to be more responsible and suggested lorry drivers could use overnight stops on the A15 and at Barnetby Top. "But they take the free options," he added.
the only truck stop I know of is at gainsthorpe
ReplyDeletePete - there is a truck stop at Barnetby Top - part of the transport cafe, is it called Barny's?
ReplyDeleteHGV drivers are highly regulated - they can only drive 8/9 hours a day and break and sleep time are monitored. Daytime hours are different to night-time driving criteria.
Driver are entitled to circa £20 per night tax free for over-night stops - but recognised truck stops charge for parking (sometimes including a breakfast and shower facilities); local Tesco charge £5 per night for parking on their 'Lidl's' site, while some truck drivers are avoiding any charge by parking along Springs Way, or in the Old Courts car-park.
Articulated refrigerated units, with their continuously running generators are o0ften requested to park some distance from other HGV's for obvious noise contamination.........
What has been noticeable for some years is the that Brigg, as a centre, has become a focus for HGV parking overnight - is this a result of drivers exploiting the free/cheap costs, or because of the growth of Brigg's industrail/retail need?
Ps - a truck cab is like a small caravan - bed, tv, cooking facilities.....all the driver needs are nearby toilet/washing facility and somewhere to purchase essentials....
