FAMILIAR FEATURE NEAR BRIGG BORDER HAS DEPARTED

The view today, looking across the A18 towards the former Brigg Sugar Factory Sportsground and Club.
When Brigg Town Cricket Club was based at the Sugar Factory Sportsground, a large tree adjoining the entrance helped trace the changing seasons. When it began to come into leaf in spring you knew another campaign was about to begin. By the time it was in full leaf, you should have had your eye in, to use a batsman's phrase.  However, the tree has now gone.
It was on the left-hand side of the A18 Scawby Road as you came over the bridge from Brigg and crossed into Scawby Brook.
We will eventually get used to the tree no longer before part of the street-scape, but it might  take some time.
The tree photographed a few years ago in full leaf and (below) in the winter.
