FIND OUT ABOUT HEALTH ISSUES IN BRIGG & DISTRICT

The offices at Health Place, Brigg - site of the former Glanford Hospital.

You can find out what's happening in local healthcare by attending the next Governing Body meeting of the NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
It will take place on Thursday, December 11 at 1.30pm in the Board Room at Health Place, Wrawby Road, Brigg (site of the former Glanford Hospital). View full details here
Your right to attending such meetings owes a good deal to the efforts of a certain backbench MP from Lincolnshire.
Margaret Thatcher spearheaded the introduction of a Bill into Parliament which later became the very important (if you work in the Press) Public Bodies (Admissions to Meetings) Act 1960.
That gave the press and public statutory rights to attend many council discussions.
Whatever you might think of Mrs T's political affiliations, never forget she was instrumental in this vital piece of legislation for press freedom and transparency in local government.
A subsequent Local Government Act in 1972 added sub-committees and other bodies.
Health was then run by district, area and regional health authorities, and there were consultative community health councils - all now long gone.
