These pictures show the lengths to which a highway
authority has to go in order to ensure no big lorries clip the bridge
carrying the railway line over Cadney Road.
There’s a height warning sign in Bigby Street, as you approach the zebra
crossing, others on Cadney Road – just before the avenue of trees – and then one
pinned to the metalwork on the side of the bridge.
The latter is old, dirty and partly hidden by foliage at this
time of year (SEE PICTURE ABOVE). So it’s to be hoped that this third line of defence is
unnecessary, and that drivers spot the first two.
There can’t be many tall trucks heading down this C-road
towards Cadney. But if local highway authorities like ours need to point out low bridges ahead, even if only a solitary lorry uses the
road.
I assume that there are similar notices on the road FROM Cadney....
