FREE SPORTS ACTIVITIES IN BRIGG AREA

North Lincolnshire Council is holding a number of consultation and taster events to find out what activities adults with physical disabilities want to get involved in. And the Brigg area is included.
The consultation events will have a range of free activities on offer for adults aged over 16 to get involved in. There will be wheelchair sports, archery, table tennis, new-age kurling and much, much more.
The events are on:
  • Monday 14 July from 1pm to 3pm at The Pods
  • Tuesday 15 July from 4pm to 6pm at Baysgarth Leisure Centre
  • Saturday 30 August from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Ancholme Leisure Centre, Scawby Brook (serving the Brigg area)
Information gathered from these events will be used to decide what activities and sessions will be developed for adults with a physical disability to take part in on a regular basis.
All adults with a physical disability are welcome to attend the events along with family members or support workers if required. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day.
There are many advantages to being active and getting involved in different activities including:
  • Socialising and meeting new people with a physical disability
  • Better quality of life
  • Improved health and wellbeing
  • Increase skills and confidence
Former Brigg Town Mayor Coun Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for customer services, sport and leisure at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are holding these events to give adults with a physical disability the chance to try out a range of activities. It will also highlight what activities could be available for them to take part in.
“The three events will help us identify what activities people want to get involved in, find out their likes and dislikes, what days and times would suit, where they would like the activities to take place and any other ideas of activities they would like to get involved in.
“Come along to the event and have a go at a range of different activities and let us know what you think about them.”
