ACTION PLAN TO MAKE BRIGG A DEMENTIA AWARNESS TOWN

Brigg Blog recently reported that a talk is to be given later this month to Brigg Town Business Partnership members about possibly declaring Brigg "A Dementia Awareness Town".
Councillor Rob Waltham raised the issue of dementia awareness at Brigg Town Council's latest meeting in the Angel Suite.
He told his colleagues: "Action should be taken to develop and improve public awareness and the delivery of services for the benefit of people with dementia and their families, with the aim of Brigg becoming a Dementia Awareness Town."
Coun Waltham added that an action plan, outlining what needed to be done, would be considered at the next meeting of the Brigg 20/20 Vision Group. He explained the support of shops would be needed.
Coun Penny Smith said she felt Brigg shops was already dementia friendly.
The Town Council will consider the the action plan at a future meeting.
Ahead of that, Brigg Blog has tried to get some inkling of what's likely to be involved.
Looking round the country where towns have already become dementia aware, they have installed improved signage, lighting and packaging to making things easier for sufferers.
Otley, in Yorkshire, is a good example. READ MORE HERE
