Brigg Blog knows there's interest in rounders in our town; we've had Sir John Nelthorpe School v Briggensians matches for some years. So we were interested to hear about a league being formed and wondered whether players in Brigg might like to get a side or two together.
An adult rounders league will be starting on 27 May at Brumby Hall Playing Fields, off Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.
North Lincolnshire Council tells us: "Whether you’re a group of friends or work colleagues, people of all abilities are welcome to take part. It will be a fun and relaxing environment."
The league will run until 29 July. You can either enter as a team or an individual and then be put into a team. There will be a "free week" for people to practise and to organise the teams from 20 May.
When the league starts it will cost £2 per player. All players must be over 16. The league will take place every Tuesday at 6.30pm.
If you are interested in getting involved, complete an entry form. For more information, or to request an entry form, email laura.major@northlincs.gov.uk or call 01724 296640. Entry forms must be returned by 16 May.
Brigg and Wolds' Coun Carl Sherwood, former Brigg Town Mayor and cabinet member for customer services, sport and leisure at North Lincolnshire Council, says: “Rounders is a great way to keep fit and healthy whilst having fun and socialising. If you haven’t played sport for a while but would like to get active then rounders is the perfect way to get started. It doesn’t matter what your ability is, everyone is welcome to join in. Make sure you complete your application form before 16 May.”
