Coun Ed Arnott has been elected Deputy Town Mayor of Brigg for the next couple of months. At Brigg Town Council's Annual General Meeting he is now expected to be elected Town Mayor for 2014/15.
At the Council's March meeting in the Angel Suite on Monday night he was proposed for the deputy's role by Coun James Truepenny. This followed Coun the Rev Alec Depledge's decision to stand down.
Coun Arnott said he was delighted to accept the position and ready to "step up to the plate."
Coun Depledge, who last month signalled his intention not to stand for election as Town Mayor, thanked his colleagues.
Coun Arnott then took his place on the top table, alongside Town Mayor Coun John Kitwood.
