MEMORIES OF SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL AND BRIGG INN

Sir Winston Churchill who led Britain through the dark days of World War Two famously stayed at the Exchange Coach House Inn at Brigg as preparations were being made for D-Day.
The Prime Minister died on January 24, 1965 – aged 90 - and Brigg Blog thought it fitting to mark the forthcoming anniversary of the great man’s demise by taking this winter picture of our Bigby Street hotel.
Outwardly it won’t have changed a great deal since Sir Winston paid our town a visit.

He was here to inspect top secret work being carried out by a company in Scunthorpe involved in the complicated logistics that made D-Day a success for the Allies.
