Brigg Town Council looks like continuing to pay for periodic cleaning of litter from the River Ancholme next year.
The Planning and Environment, Committee was asked to review the river clean contract for 2013 and consider whether the Town Council should make budgetary provision for the same, or a similar contract, in 2014.
The committee, meeting in the Angel Suite, supported this continuing next year.
Chairing the meeting, Coun Ben Nobbs praised the service and said it had been great to look at the river and no longer see "a floating dustbin."
He added: "This has been very successful, as far as I am concerned. It has been money well spent."
Coun Chris Dyson suggested: "We need to allow for it in the budget.
A specialist contractor has been engaged in the past to undertake the work. In addition, "spring cleans" have been undertaken to remove litter that cannot be reached from the river - notably in and around the towpath. This is also expected to continue in 2014.
