GET YOUR DOG MICRO-CHIPPED FOR FREE IN BRIGG

Coun Nigel Sherwood says: Getting your dog chipped is important
North Lincolnshire Council will be holding free micro-chipping events, including one in Brigg where the last session drew an amazing number of folk to the Old Courts Road car park where the task was undertaken from a special vehicle.
Brigg has to wait its turn this time. The chipping events began in Scunthorpe on Thursday (November 14), and will take in Ashby, Epworth, Barton and Crowle before the final session in Brigg on Thursday, April 29 - again in the town's main car park, from 11am to 3pm.
Make a note of the date now, but we will run reminders next spring.
The council told Brigg Blog that micro-chipping provides peace of mind that if your dog is lost or stolen, they are more likely to be returned to you safe and sound. Micro-chipping will soon become compulsory for all dogs owners in England. Dogs should also wear a collar and tag – Including an up to date ID tag and owner contact details. This can allow for easier identification and quicker return if the dog goes missing.
Cabinet Member for Highways and Neighbourhood at North Lincolnshire Council, Coun Nigel Sherwood (Brigg and Wolds) said: It’s great news that there are more micro-chipping sessions available. It’s important that dog owners can get their dogs micro-chipped before it becomes a legal requirement to do so. Getting your dog chipped is important – it can save a lot of heartache should they go missing. Having a collar and tag is still law and you must have an up-to-date ID tag with the dog owners contact details.”
