DOUBLE CELEBRATION AS LIGHTS SWITCHED ON AND PHASE 2 OF BRIGG HERITAGE CENTRE LAUNCHED

Friday 29 November is a very special occasion in Brigg when the Christmas lights will be switched on and the second phase of the Heritage Centre opens.
Panto stars from Jack and the Beanstalk will entertain the crowd from around 4.30pm and will be joined by Brigg Town Mayor, Andrew Percy MP and Mayor and Mayoress of North Lincolnshire for the lights switch-on at 5pm.  Father Christmas will also be there.
The shops will open late until 8pm and there will be gift and charity stalls in the Market Place and along Wrawby Street.
Once the Christmas lights go on, the public can take a look round the newly opened Phase 2 of the Heritage Centre which is open until 8pm.
Brigg Heritage Centre is based at The Angel and extends over the whole of the first floor.  The centrepiece is the Bronze Age Brigg ‘Raft’ along with displays exploring the history of Brigg and the Ancholme Valley with a unique collection of artefacts found locally.
Phase 2 of the Heritage Centre completes the historical journey through Brigg and the Ancholme Valley.  It will provide a series of rooms telling the story of the role the River Ancholme has played over the centuries and bringing the history of its communities to life.  It explores archaeology and history of the area from the end of the medieval period through to the modern day. 
Coun Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is going to be a great event and cause for double celebration as not only is it Brigg Town Council’s lights switch on, but we are also marking the opening of Phase 2 of the Heritage Centre.
“There’ll be lots going on.  There’ll be the panto cast from Jack and the Beanstalk and Father Christmas will be making an appearance. And there’ll be plenty of stalls selling a selection of goods.
“The fun starts at 4.30pm with the switch on of the lights at 5pm, so ensure you don’t miss this wonderful  occasion.”
