Coun David Dobbie, of Gainsborough-based West Lindsey District Council, is arranging a trip to Grimsby on November 30, using what's being described as the iconic Northern Rail Saturdays-only train service along the Brigg line.
This is to highlight the fact we are now approaching 20 years since our line lost its Monday to Friday service.
That information has come our way from active campaigning group The Friends of the Brigg Line.
It's good to see more people supporting trains on the Brigg line. However, we are sure our traders would rather they stopped off to shop in Brigg, rather than Grimsby. Maybe, in due course, this could be arranged.
There is, of course, plenty of good shopping to be had in Gainsborough, and Brigg people can board trains in our station any Saturday to make the relatively short trip to the capital of West Lindsey.
Equally, Gainsborough folk can choose to come here. The Victorians liked the term "free trade" and the concept still applies.
Further information about the trip on November 30 is available through this link
With the Duo tickets being introduced on the line from Gainsborough and Retford early next year, visits to the award winning Brigg Farmers Market on the 4th Saturday of each month should be encouraged.

Even a special service put on for the traditional Horse Fair in August would encourage more visiters to the town.
