HOW TO MAKE BRIGG FREE PARKING GO FURTHER

Just a polite request for North Lincolnshire Council to consider, in an effort to make short-stay free parking in Brigg even better...
Create parking bays by painting some short white lines on both sides of the set-aside areas close to the old Post Office building in Bigby Street.
As there are no markings at present, many drivers park somewhere in the middle and take up what's effectively two spaces. Show drivers where to position their vehicles and it will mean more people being able to take advantage of the short stay period, made available specifically for very short trips to nearby town centre shops and business premises.

  1. Nige, I have already mentioned an associated problem with Cllr Rob Waltham about a fortnight ago.
Some of the bays are allocated 40 mins waiting time.
Historically, these bays were time-reduced following BTC's concern that parents collecting children from the Prep School were causing congestion at specific times of the day.
The new school use of the building has fewer pupils; they arrive by mini-coach and park inside the old front playground.
A second concern relates to a number (few) of residents who live in nearby cottages who over the years have been displaced from on-street parking.
Although they reside quite near Queen St and the area's Residents' Parking Scheme, geographically they are a couple of hundred feet from the qualifying area.
A resident has expressed concern re on-street parking and I have suggested that the on-street parking zones in Bigby St are brought in-line with the rest of Brigg....and that, on an experimental basis, the Residents Parking zone be extended to include the few residents who reside in that section of Bigby Street.
I understand that Cllr Waltham is investigating the circumstances.
