FREIGHT TRAINS RUN THROUGH BRIGG IN DAYLIGHT, TOO

Much of the concern that's been expressed about freight trains coming through Brigg and generating noise has been about the after-dark hours. But, as this picture reminds us, a good many run while it's still light. We took the picture in mid-afternoon on Good Friday when "empties" were returning east. The train had just passed over the level crossing and is alongside Thomas Bell's premises. For the next few hundreds metres it ran close to people's homes.

  1. I never knew there was a freight train that runs through the city in daylight! There are many freight companies in the UK and some prefer different methods of transporting freight. Rail freight is not as popular as it once was due to the ability to easily ship goods by air.
