Roadworks appeared near the centre of Brigg yesterday (Monday) and caught us on the hop.
But we are pleased so report it proved something of a one-day wonder and everything is back to normal this morning. The work was centred on the Bigby Road zebra crossing and turned out to involve the installation of new Belisha beacons - those black and white poles topped with orange globes.
Approaching from The Monument by car early on Monday, we observed a range of vehicles parked near the crossing on Bigby Road and even down Queen Street. Having failed to locate a parking spot - which is very unusual at this time of day - we were forced to give up the ghost and head off elsewhere for the morning newspapers.
The end result was £2 less in the till at Dave Dent's Nisa Local shop on Queen Street but a little bit more towards the profits of Tesco.
Late yesterday morning we returned, on foot, and took these pictures of work in progress.
