BRIGG INTEREST IN MAJOR JOBS AND CAREERS EVENT
Grimley Smith Associates - based in Brigg Market Place - will be one of the firms supporting a major careers fair organised by North Lincolnshire Council.
It's good to see them, and other companies from across the district, giving generously of staff time to support something aimed at helping young people.
More than 1,600 North Lincolnshire school pupils and college students are expected at the jobs and careers event organised by North Lincolnshire Council during the day on Monday, October 8 at Forest Pines Hotel, near Broughton.
The event is also open to the general public after 3.30pm.
North Lincolnshire Council is organising the fair to give businesses and other employers the chance to capture the imagination of young people, and job seekers showing them the opportunities that are open to them.
Seventy exhibitors will be present including colleges, universities and employers, covering every area of further education, employment opportunities from retail to social care and engineering to accountancy.
The theme is 'You can be whatever you want to be’ and there will be tips on finding work, training opportunities, further and higher education, apprenticeships and volunteering opportunities.
It is open to school pupils in years nine and 10 from 9am to 3pm and after that it is open to year 11 and college students, young job seekers and parents.
‘Get that Job’ workshops are being run at 3.30pm, 4.30pm and 5.30pm. The workshops will give "attendees" employability skills.
To book, call 01724 297330 or email business.info@northlincs.gov.uk to book a place on a workshop.
Organised school groups are attending pre-arranged sessions between 9am and 3.30pm. WE PRESUME BRIGG WILL BE REPRESENTED HERE.
There are still places available for businesses and other organisations, call 01724 297330 or email business.info@northlincs.gov.uk for more details.
Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We want to the raise aspirations of our young people and we’re using the jobs and careers event to give them ideas about their opportunities open to them."
“It’s also an ideal opportunity for employers to see for themselves the wealth of talented, hard-working young people who will soon be making choices about their future career.”
