BRIGG SNOW-CLEARING PRAISED

Snow-clearing efforts by North Lincolnshire Council one recent Sunday morning in Brigg were praised by former Town Mayor Coun Ben Nobbs during the February meeting of the Town Council.
Recalling how paths had been cleared, Coun Nobbs said: “I think we should congratulate them. I thought it was brilliant.”
Coun Nigel Sherwood, Cabinet Member for Highways and Neighbourhoods at North Lincolnshire Council, was in the public gallery to receive the plaudits.
However, during the same Town Council session, some disquet was expressed over the “reorganisation” of traffic light settings on the A18 in Brigg.
Coun Nobbs said traffic was now queuing back into the box junction at the top of Old Courts Road, making it very difficult for motorists trying to turn onto the main road from Wesley Road.

  1. Turn the blinking traffic lights off.....there is a good chance that they are the root cause of the traffic chaos along Barnard Ave.

  2. As we have been through this many times before they can't be turned off because of the fire station. When the fire trucks leave on an emergency call out the lights are locked at red. North Lincolnshire Highways do monitor this situation closely and sequences have been changed in the past to follow traffic flows.

  3. Every effort made so far to tinker with the settings/adjust the flow has always resulted in motoring winners and motoring losers. Having been told by Tesco that the smart technology exists to monitor current traffic at any given minute and make the required adjustments, it baffles me why the council hasn't already bought it. Hang on, maybe that was wise. Someone else might perhaps be expected to foot the bill for what's required.
