BRIGG 'NO PARKING AREA' HELPING POLICE

Further to a couple of earlier postings on the topic, Brigg Blog is pleased to report that the fault in the traffic lights on Cary Lane has been fixed.
And while we are on the subject of Cary Lane...
A week or two ago when we heard it suggested that some sort of repair/refurbishing work might be coming up in the car parking area within Brigg police station, we thought about what this might mean.
And we were right: Police vehicles used the area of scrub land in Cary Lane. This is where many Brigg folk “in the know” used to park our cars for free, over a number of years - until Humberside Police decided to cordon it off.
It is police land, so they can do what they like with it. But for Brigg drivers that free parking area was much appreciated while it lasted, being very conveniently placed for a trip to town centre shops.
So it's been good to see some useful purpose yet again for the now bollard-protected piece of land.
Evening all!

  1. I'm a very suspicious person, Scribs, but was it coincidence that the police claimed back their patch about the same time Tesco were submitting their application. It is it a coincidence that Tesco plan to widen Cary Lane?
Hypothetically, if the police sold that land to 'x', to whom would the money go to? The wider public purse, or the police?
It's a bit like the NHS selling off property, I assume the NHS would benefit....but the NHS is government sponsored, unlike the local police who are financially support by community taxes.
