Local clubs and societies serving Brigg and district are invited to add their details to a contact list compiled by North Lincolnshire Council’s library staff.
The Local Societies and Contacts register is available on the North Lincolnshire Council website and copies are held at all libraries, including mobile libraries.
The register is updated once a year and the council relies on people to tell us about their groups so they can be included.
Everything from beekeeping to knitting and woodturning to bookbinding are included.
There is also a wealth of support groups offering advice on subjects ranging from adoption to heart disease and dyslexia to relationships.
Some of the organisations included in the register are:
· Art clubs
· Self-help groups
· Sporting associations
· Family history societies
· Speakers
· Translators
· Music teachers
Any society, organisation, group or club based in North Lincolnshire can be placed on the register for free. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2011.
Just fill in an online application form at www.northlincs.gov.uk/libraries or complete a form at your local library.

For more information about being part of the register or to find an organisation, speak to a member of staff at your local library or contact North Lincolnshire Central Library on 01724 860161.
Brigg's Deputy Town Mayor, Coun Carl Sherwood, North Lincolnshire Council's cabinet member for Corporate and Community Services, said: “The register is incredibly useful for anyone wanting to find out about local clubs and societies. For it to be remain comprehensive and up to date we really need people to tell us about their groups.”
Why is there a deadline for submission?
ReplyDeleteIn this computer age, why can't it be a dynamic list...groups are added as they develop....and deleted as appropriate.
With a deadline, for example, the list becomes obsolete very quickly... contact details of groups' officials change almost on a daily basis..and groups' venues and meeting times will invariably change over the months.
