Brigg voters go to the polls tomorrow for three purposes.
There’s a government referendum on whether to change the current ‘first past the post’ voting system to elect MPs.
Secondly, Brigg electors can consider the nine candidates who have put up for Brigg and Wolds Ward on North Lincolnshire Council, three of whom will be voted in.
And last, but by no means least, there’s a Town Council election, as 20 candidates have come forward to fill the 19 seats. Had one fewer person stood, of course, there would have been no need to consult the electorate, as everyone would have gone through automatically.
That’s democracy, and it’s good to see such interest being shown.
Brigg polling stations will open at 7am tomorrow and close at 10pm.
The Brigg and Wolds count should be undertaken late on Thursday night.
I’ve put in an official application to North Lincolnshire Council to attend the count at Ancholme Leisure Centre, so the news of who’s in and who’s not will be coming your way.
