I SHOULD COCO!

The Coco shop, in Wrawby Street, Brigg, is open once again. I stopped opposite the premises for a chat with a friend on Saturday morning and observed his "good lady" and a stream of others going through the door and emerging later with their purchases. Brigg Blog thought of popping over and asking permission to take a piccy inside but they seemed so busy it would have been wrong to get in the way of paying customers. Although for obvious reasons it's not a shop I'd normally visit, Ladies in Red (and other colours) will be delighted to know it's back of the retail radar. Perhaps we'll try again for another picture on a less busy day of the week. Being a long-serving production editor in a past journalistic incarnation, I'm a bit sad (in most eyes) when it comes to typefaces/lettering, and must say Coco's choice meets with my approval. Sans script fits the bill nicely.

  1. Do you mean sans-serif lettering? If so, this font has serifs.

  2. My mind was wandering, Sova...

    SANSKRIT.... A decorative script.
SANS (S)KIRT ....Brigg ladies were without the ability to buy any.

I have no success with the Daily Telegraph crossword so coming up with a suitably cryptic clue for "no skirts" was beyond me.

Best typeface of all time must be Gill Sans (due to its close connections with the London North Eastern Railway). Other favourites include Cooper Black and New Century Schoolbook, though the width of these fonts meant writing a headline that fitted in the days before sub-editors were given computers was taxing. I am old enough to have marked up copy to be set in hot metal type!

  3. ....you'll have to watch of for your p and q's now, Scribs....otherwise you could get lots of letters!
    My favourite font is 'Comic'...
