THINKING OUT OF THE BOX

Further to our earlier post about discarded pizza boxes on Brigg streets, we spotted two more this morning – one near the Britannia Inn, on Wrawby Street, and the other in the middle of St Helen’s Road.
The pizza box near the Britannia had been tossed aside within a few yards of the large green litter bin adjoining the Tintabs, on East Park.
Which makes you wonder what more the council can do.

  1. Thinking outside the box.......ban pizza boxes, or tax the boxes.
Supermarkets are promoting re-usable bags, so why can't folks who want a pizza bring their own pizza container; those who want to scoff a pizza on the way home after the pub, either sell them an expensive re-usable box, or put the pizza in a bag.
For info - a pizza box probably costs more that the cost of a pizza
base - the base is only made of flour, a drop of oil and a pinch of salt.....as hot food the pizza is VAT'd at 20 percent....a pizza box if free - doesn't make sense does it!

  2. I afford no blame to the pizza shops. They don't drop the litter.

  3. This time of year also exposes the base of our hedgerows with the plants dormant and the leaves nicely rotted down . Whilst walking around the Brigg area I am always amazed at the number of small spirit bottles discarded below the hedges . The more worrying thought that often crosses my mind is that most have probably been thrown from a passing car rather than a tipsy pedestrian .
