  1. Do they get tea-breaks, Scribs?

Why is it that all the good jobs involve being clever?

Sova could do it; he's so clever he could be the guy in-charge, the Registrar General.

GeorgieMafia maybe interested if they give travel allowances from Saudi.

I couldn't do it. I'm useless with sums, writing and I stutter when I get nervous.

I would be okay in traditional Austalian aboriginal communities. Their number system goes, '1', '2', and 'Lots'.

But if the pay's good, I could do a crash course in basic skills with Adult Education and re-visit my therapist.

Failing that, I could be their tea-boy and the guy who sharpens their pencils.

Can I use you as a character reference, Scribbles? If you want bribing, just let me know how much.

  2. Ken: Me?

Well, first off, I'm a she, but it's not important.

Secondly, I wouldn't do a house-by-house census as we do now, no way! It's so costly and doesn't return the kind of figures most people expect. The budget for the 2011 census is £450 million+, yet the 2001 census missed up to several million people.

National Statistics currently fills in missing answers (and people) using known data. It also updates the census information every year using growth (or shrinkage) estimates for various groups to prevent it going out of date. We might as well just use this information to create a "census" anyway, as though it will be imperfect, it will be a lot cheaper.

  3. A woman!...... and I thought I was perfect!
    Yer still clever, anyway.
Excellent comments about the census...it questions whether it's necessary particularly when we have the government's National Statistics Agency.
I said that you should be the Registrar General.
    ..................................
NIGEL....the guy with the stage-name, 'Sova' has come clean about being a woman.
You'll have to keep your comments sensible from now on....no more innuedo.
You haven't any secrets to tell us, have you Scribs? (We already know about your 6" nails).
Your pseudonym, 'Nigel' isn't a nom de plume for 'Beryl' by any chance?
