  1. Saudi's increased disproportionately......do you think it's a result of the ban being lifted on Blackberries?

Poor old Latvia - it's one of those countries thats like a tennis match...it's been battered about and been annexed with Germany and Russia during the last 100 years.
I have a young friend, Agris, who comes from Riga (capital)...claims the seaside on the Baltic is much warmer than Cleethorpes....but not in wintertime when the seaside is ice covered...but, that could still be warmer than Brigg at the moment.

  2. Saudi's increase has nothing to do with fruit Ken its more to do with my missing "dear old Blighty" .......... rain, clouds, cold snaps, fish and chips served in newspaper from Glebe Road chippie ......

  3. GeordieMafia - I know the feeling.
When I did my stint in the Middle East,on my return, I was amazed how verdent and green Blighty really is....I'd taken it for granted before.

Anyway, how long have you been in Saudi - chips in newspaper went out years ago - banned by the H&S bods - chips are now sold in polystyrene boxes!!??

Blackberries - not the fruity sort GM....the moby sort that the Saudis banned cos it wasn't easy for them to easedrop on folks' calls.

If you're really homesick, I'll send you a postcard from Cleethorpes and despatch the odd snowy robin Christmas cards at different times of the year.
If you're lucky, I'll get Den at the Glebe Road chippie to waft a few vinegary chips about the envelope.
Nige could help by showing some wintery pix and some general Ancholme flooding pictures from time to time. How about rainwater gushing out of a down-pipe, Scribs for our Lawrence of Arabia...but too much dull Blighty nostalgic pix may give hime heart failure!!??
In the meantime, how do rate the Brigg sunset pix in a recent post?
My recollection of 'sunsets' in the Middle East was the suddeness between sunshine and night....it occurred so fast ...like someone turning down a dimmer switch.

Don't want to excite you too much, but there is danger of a bit of ground-frost about Brigg this week.

  4. Only 6 months into a 2 year stint but I hope that the 2 years becomes another 2 and then another etc......
Chips dont taste the same in those polystyrene things, the vinegar doesn't soak up as well and the salt isn't on the chips.
Sunrise and sunset come very quickly, I'll send some pics to Nige of both over Riyadh and Wadi Hanifah. Cleggy "on the mud" happy childhood memories of catching steam trains from my local village station at Howsham - closed many years ago, thanks Dr Beecham - H&S picking up out here now as good old common sense has to make way for bureaucratic paperwork.

  5. 6 months, eh...so no longer a moonie!
Just to brighten your day.....there's Weather Warnings covering the UK.....heavy, stormy rain.
We get too much mixed weather....Saudi gets too much same weather....the same old sun beating down all day..and when it does rain everyone goes mad...the locals run about stopping leaks; the ex-pats run about gazing skywards making funny noises.

    How's the bed-bug problem?
(I'm sure Nige would be interested in pix of such). If you've never had a bed bug problem...you're a softy living with too much luxury.
