Youngsters messing about on a building site in Brigg were spotted by Coun Ann Eardley on her way to a town council meeting in the Angel Suite.
She promptly rang the police but said she was disappointed it took them about an hour to get back to her.
Coun Eardley spotted the youths on the former Smith Parkinson garage site, off Market Lane, which is being redeveloped for offices and housing by Grimley Smith Associates.
She pointed out this was just round the corner from Brigg police station, and said she was disappointed with the response time.
“I don’t think it’s good enough,” she complained.
Town Mayor Coun Michael Doherty said the council would pass on Coun Eardley’s comments ‘and see what response we get’.
Coun Eardley went on to express her concerns about youths throwing fireworks about near the Ancholme Way bridge, and ‘riding mopeds up and down’.
The Mayor said that information would also be passed on to the police.
Having to wait for more than an hour for the ploice to attend an incidient is no surprise to myself, or a great deal of other town residents. Having been a resident, living near, the Angel Car park for a few years. the prospect of the 0845 phone farse is an accepted part of life unfortunately. I remember well the time i'd walked round to the police station to report yet another anti social event to the relevent department, only to be told "we can't do anything because we're not allowed to drive the volvo's sir!!!!. Im all in favour of equal employent for the disabled. but policemen that cannot walk is beyond words.......
ReplyDeleteI had the misfortune to witness the other evening, youths harrassing staff outside and around the tesco store.I did my civic duty and called on the make shift phone outside our CLOSED police station..... after a very confused control/public dialogue was left feeling very unsure and dissatisfied at the level of service i and Tesco were offered.
How i wish our bobbies were'nt in Scunthorpe dealing with their problems whilst my rates are £1200 and rising......
Yours feeling ripped off
