A sports marathon will be passing through the Brigg area.
Former Lincolnshire county cricketers Martyn Dobson (current CEO of Lincolnshire Cricket Ltd) and Paul Cook (former county captain) will run from the most northerly Cricket Club in the county (Barton on Humber CC) to the most southerly (Stamford Town) to raise money for cricket-related causes on the 1st & 2nd June.
Broughton is on their route, Martyn informs Brigg Blog.
The pair will cover approximately 95 miles on their journey and aim to cover the distance in a maximum of 36 hours.
Half of all funds raised will go to national charity Chance to Shine whose mission it is to bring cricket back to the nation's state schools.
The remaining 50% will go into a ‘restart cricket’ fund that will go directly back to the network of recreational cricket clubs in Lincolnshire to support them meet the challenges of reopening once restrictions allow.
Given Paul Cook's involvement in Scunthorpe Rugby Union Club the pair will also be making a financial contribution to the Samaritans Mental Health charity to support the good work the the rugby club is doing.
