SOMETHING MOUTH-WATERING FROM BRIGG WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Strange white and grey formations have appeared in the sky over Brigg this morning (Tuesday, July 3).
Do you remember clouds and when summer deluges were such a feature of life in June and July?
Due to the lengthy spell of hot and dry weather we've been enjoying in recent weeks, Brigg Angel's WI (Women's Institute) is appealing to residents in the Bigby Road area of town to help water the plants around its decorative "Jam Jar" installed in a  flower bed, close to the A1084.
'Jam and Jerusalem' is a phrase often applied to the WI -  but local members these days do much more than that, as our picture demonstrates.
Brigg and jam go hand in hand. Do you remember Spring's famous preserves factory overlooking the Old River Ancholme?
Brigg in Bloom 2018 is being well received, with flowers brightening the town centre and elsewhere. Congratulations to all concerned.
