MAJOR CONSTRUCTION AND HIGHWAYS CONTRACTS UP FOR GRABS BY COMPANIES, BRIGG COUNCILLOR REVEALS

FROM KIRSTY WESTFIELD, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
Firms hoping to win major construction and highways contracts with North Lincolnshire Council have been invited to a key event.
A supplier event day will be held on 22 March (Thursday) as the authority begins the process of procuring the next generation construction and highways framework.
The Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Cllr Rob Waltham (Brigg & Wolds) said it presented a “fantastic opportunity” for local employers.
“We are wanting to work with small and large suppliers with contracts ranging from £1 to £10m,” Cllr Waltham said. “The framework is over a four-year period and may be extended by another two years.
“Our aim is to continue to build long term partnerships with key contractors who will help deliver first class public services to the people of North Lincolnshire.
“The contracts will boost economic growth by providing and securing jobs in our community and further improving skills.
“I’d encourage those interested to find out more details at the supplier day. The framework will support our objective to be the best place to live and best council.”
The 22 March event will incorporate two sessions at 10am and 2pm and be held at the Learning Development Centre, South Leys Campus, Enderby Road, Scunthorpe, DN17 2JL.

Those interested are asked to book their place.
The framework aims to deliver efficiencies, improve value for money and provide added social value through the employment and training opportunities.
It will include individual lots for general building and highways. Other key features include:

  • Works range in value from £1 to £10m
  • Four-year duration (with possible two-year extension)
  • Potential total workload in excess of £20 million
  • Inclusion of specific lots for disabled facilities and roofing works
Call offs will be under the NEC ECC4 suite of contracts
Procurement will be a single stage process with bidders completing the publicly available specification (PAS 91), with supplementary method statements and pricing information.
The council will be using ‘Constructionline’ the Government-approved third-party accreditation and risk management service to assist in the pre-qualification and future monitoring processes.
The provisional award date for the framework is October, followed by a mobilisation period of two months with a ‘go live’ date of January, 2019.
All documentation will be issued electronically with an anticipated release date of May.
